We meet on Friday, typically at 6:30PM, in member homes.

The Mission Church has transitioned from Sunday morning services to alternating Friday nights.

Why did we do this?  First, we have lost important momentum as a church.  Everyone knows Christ’s church is struggling in our hyper-busy, digital age.  Second, our leadership team is challenged to engage the culture for Jesus.

This decision is unanimous among our Elders & their wives.  Our process of discernment has been encouraging.  We have a plan.

  1. We will meet periodically for prayer, Bible study, service, and fellowship.
  2. It will not be Sunday morning, so everyone can discern God’s leading.
  3. We will continue to operate as a legal entity, remaining a 501c3 non-profit and supporting local ministries like ODB.

The rest of the details will be worked out one step at a time.

We do not want to get ahead of the Holy Spirit.

We seek to equip and encourage everyone.

Friends, if we did these two things: walked in the Spirit and equipped others to do the same, we will fulfill our calling in Christ.

We covet your prayers and participation, but demand neither.  We only ask you respond with love and grace.  You may remain.  You may go.  It matters most you follow Jesus and stay connected to a local fellowship of people who love Jesus.

Humbly, Dave, Bob & Ron

You’re invited to join us for community, study, and prayer on alternating Fridays.

Our story begins in the late 1990’s when a family living in Townsend, DE attended the Bible Fellowship Church of Newark.  Living 30 minutes south, they were told a church plant was coming to their hometown soon.

At the same time, the Holy Spirit is stirring other hearts to search for God’s gifting & calling.

These stories intersect in 2010 as Ron Smith meets David Gundrum (Director of Church Planting), and several families connect at the Bible Fellowship Church.  A small group starts planning & praying about what a new church might become.  theMISSION was birthed in the summer of 2012.

Through it all we are grateful.  We have…

  • Experienced God’s provision & protection.
  • Seen people come to faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Heard people confess Christ to family & friends.

Our prayer is to make a lasting mark on our community.  We want to love our community.  That means the Holy Spirit is still changing us.
